General Eagle Foundation Academic Excellence Awards are awarded based on the following criteria: service to the school and community, academic performance, attendance and discipline records, financial need and student essay. Applicants must have a weighted GPA (grade point average) of at least a 3.55. Scholarship amounts vary and range from $500.00 to $1,500.00.

The Kunsman Scholarship for Excellence in Leadership or Mathematics was established by a grateful student in honor of Elvin H. Kunsman, founder of the Blue Mountain School District. It is a $2,500.00 scholarship that is awarded to the student with the highest average in Math based on grade point average and SAT scores. Applicants must also demonstrate the leadership qualities exemplified by Mr. Kunsman.

The Charles K. Hill Memorial Scholarship is a $500.00 award established by the friends and family of the late Charles K. Hill for students who intend to major in Agricultural or Environmental Sciences.

The Matthew S. Hill Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000.00 scholarship that was established by the friends and family of Matt Hill ’03 upon his untimely death in June 2004. It is awarded to “best all around male and female students”. Applicants must have a weighted GPA (grade point average) of at least a 3.75, have lettered in a sport, and demonstrate exemplary community service and involvement in extra-curricular activities.

The Cresswell Memorial Scholarship was established by the friends and family of Jonathan “Jono” Cresswell ’01 upon his untimely death in 2008. In honor of Jonathan’s memory, Blue Mountain students who wish to learn a trade will have the opportunity to receive a $1,000.00 scholarship to offset the cost of their continued education. Preference will be given to an applicant who intends to pursue certification in masonry.

The Bill Bradley Memorial Scholarship was established by the friends and family of Orwigsburg police officer William Bradley upon his untimely death in 2010. It is a $750.00 scholarship that is awarded to a student who intends to major in criminal justice or a related field. The successful candidate will demonstrate the honesty, integrity, leadership ability, courage, and self-restraint of a police officer through a written essay that describes the qualities and characteristics they possess that would enable them to make a difference in the lives of others.

The Fern Heiser Heritage Scholarship is a $1,500.00 award established by Fern Heiser’s grandchildren Barry and Vicki and great granddaughter Jessica Hill in 2011. It is awarded to a female student who has a weighted GPA (grade point average) of at least a 3.55, and possesses at least ONE of the following qualifications: he/she must be an officer in a club, class, or student council; a captain or co-captain of a high school team; or is active in their church or local charitable organization. The student must also compose an essay that answers the following question: “How has your heritage and/or family shaped who you are today?"

The Fern Heiser Compassion Scholarship is a $2,000.00 award given in Fern Heiser’s memory by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Delroy and Jacqueline. It is presented to a female student that has a who embodies Fern’s caring and giving spirit through outstanding leadership and compassion for others. Fern was a disciplined self-starter who volunteered for many activities in the community. Applicants must write an essay on what they have accomplished with a disciplined life.

The Sultan F. Khan Memorial Scholarship was established by the colleagues, patients, and friends of Dr. Sultan F. Khan in 2011. A $500.00 scholarship award is presented to the student who has declared a major which will prepare them for entry into the medical field or who plans to have a career in the healthcare field. Applicant must demonstrate financial need, commitment to the community, and academic excellence.

The Captain Jason B. Jones Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000.00 award established to honor the legacy of Jason Jones, BMHS Class of 2003, USMA, Class of 2007, Green Beret, 3rd Group Special Forces, U.S. Army. Captain Jones was tragically killed in the line of duty during a special operation in Afghanistan on June 2, 2014. One award will be given to a male or female Blue Mountain graduate who aspires to serve our country through military service. Preference will be given to a graduate who has been accepted to a Service Academy, or who will serve with the military in connection with a pursuit of higher education through an ROTC or similar program. Applicants must exhibit the strong moral character of a Green Beret. The selection will also be based on commitment to the military, grade point average, leadership qualities, adaptability, and empathy towards others.

The Business Leaders of Blue Mountain Scholarship Award is a $1,000.00 award established in 2024 by local businesses and individuals to assist a graduating senior pursuing further education in the area of Business, Entrepreneurship, Finance/Accounting, Marketing, or related fields. Applicants must demonstrate community or school involvement through clubs/organizations, participate in extracurricular activities, or alternatively, a record of employment during their high school years. A 3.0+ GPA (grade point average) is required. Applicants must submit a resume and write an essay describing how their involvement in their community, organizations, or other experiences will help them be successful in the business arena. The Ravitz Family Award for Outstanding Scholar-Athlete was established by the friends and family of Dr. & Mrs. Gerry Ravitz to honor their years of service to the Eagle Foundation. Two $1,000.00 scholarships are awarded annually to outstanding male and female student athletes as determined by coaches' recommendations, academic achievement, leadership abilities, and athletic achievement.
